Hey y’all, this is it!
The days are getting shorter and the weeks faster, but it’s time 😭 I go home in just 10 days. But y’all — today is my last P-Day, so I don’t know if I’ll be squeezing one more email in next week during the temple. Because after 18 months, I’ll be attending the temple and I am sooo hyped for it!!
Y’all, this is depressing. I love my mission with my whole heart, but I’m not going to get into it because I honestly cry every time I think about leaving. But y’all — people are so right: it’s sooo bittersweet. Like, one day I’m sooo excited to see my family — like, I love them to pieces. But then the next, I’m low-key depressed because I’m leaving the mish. The best way to describe it is like when Rapunzel from Tangled leaves her tower for the first time — because that’s me.
But enough said about that, because I’m still out here doing missionary work, so let’s get to it!!

Y’all, I’m just gonna say it…
I milked a goat this week! No, not a cow — a goat.
Let me give y’all some context: we help out this less-active member with her homestead because it’s just her running it. She wanted us to clean out a section of her land so she could put goats there to eat all the weeds. She mentioned she’d milked her goat that morning, and I guess I looked confused because she asked if I’d ever milked a goat. I told her no, so she said, “Follow me.”
So we did. I didn’t know what was about to happen. She grabbed a goat, led us into this little shack she called her "milk room," and showed me how to milk it.
Literally one of the weirdest moments of my mission — but now I know how to milk a goat. So I’m here for all your goat-milking needs 💁♀️🐐🥛
This same lady also taught us how to put in wire fencing. She said, “You never know when you’ll need to help with fencing, so I’m gonna show you girls how.”
It was actually pretty fun — until I saw a mouse, screamed, and she called me "city girl." She said, “City girl is still getting used to country life.”
Literally love her. I love Sanford. It teaches me new things every day.

Y’all —
We woke up the morning of Zone Training and I went to take a shower 'cause I was musty and needed to wash my hair…
WELL, the most unimaginable thing happened: on Zone Training day, our power was out 😑
So we had to text the La Jara sisters to come use their shower and help us curl our hair. We packed up and got in the car looking rough ahaha.
On the way there, we saw a massive tree had fallen onto the power lines. It was bad. But we got ready — just very unfortunate.
We had Zone Training this week!!
President and Sister Kotter made the trip up to the valley to see us. They gave us amazing counsel about the temple. They quoted Russell M. Nelson’s talk, “The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation.”
President and Sister Kotter talked about the importance of attending the temple and making it a priority.
A prophet of the Lord said this:
“So I ask each of you, how firm is your foundation? And what reinforcements to your testimony and understanding of the gospel are needed? The temple lies at the center of strengthening our faith and spiritual fortitude because the Savior and His doctrine are the very heart of the temple. Everything taught in the temple, through instruction and through the Spirit, increases our understanding of Jesus Christ. His essential ordinances bind us to Him through sacred priesthood covenants. Then, as we keep our covenants, He endows us with His healing, strengthening power. And oh, how we will need His power in the days ahead.”
He received that revelation from Jesus Christ — so basically, it’s Christ saying this. Think about that!!
We then played this game where you roll dice, and when you get doubles, you take a cowboy hat from someone else at the table and try to write to 100 until someone else rolls doubles. Then you stop.
I was not good at this game, but it was sooo funny. One Elder’s paper was literally blank 'cause he didn’t roll any doubles. I trash talked him, and then Sister Christensen said something too, and one Elder looked at both of us and said,
“I’m glad Sister Kimball is a good influence on you. Not gonna lie — she got the best trainer.” 💁♀️

WE WENT SNAKE HUNTING!!
And by “we,” I mean Brother Vail shot two rattlesnakes and we skinned them — which was insane.
I also learned that the snake’s nerves were still moving — so bro was slithering even an hour after he died. It was crazy!
But y’all — I held a rattlesnake, so you might say I’m a true Rattler. #strikeem 🐍💥

4th of July was a blast!!
We were invited to this family's party — and y’all, family parties are the best. We pulled up awkward as ever, but it was chill 'cause we saw the Bishop. And y’all — the Bishop here is out-of-pocket. He was dropping major tea on his family.
He literally said:
“Last year, that one brother was on drugs and had a psychotic break — so hopefully that doesn’t happen this year.”
I was like… what?! 🤯
Anyway, they served us massive steaks. And I know everyone hates when I say this — but they didn’t have ranch, and I was kinda mad. It was chill though. The steak was so good. I ate that thing up.
We also got to know the whole Peterson fam. I’m calling it the Peterson Party because they have eight siblings — and seven live here in Sanford. All of them were there, with all their kids. Total blast.

Now for a crazy experience:
Me and Sister Christensen have a favorite roleplay we do with members called the Elder Sowards Roleplay.
Don’t ask me why it’s called that — I have no idea. When I first got to the mission field, my trainer told me, “It’s called the Elder Sowards roleplay,” and I was like, “Who the heck is Elder Sowards?” She was like, “IDK, he served here I guess.”
ANYWAY —
We’re at this Peterson 4th of July party and this guy comes up to us like, “So how’s President Kotter?”
I’m thinking, “Who the heck is this guy?”
He introduces himself as Bro Sowards, and he served here like 18 months ago.
Y’ALL — he is the Elder Sowards from the roleplay.
It blew our minds. Hahaha. Really iconic.
ROSIE is getting baptized!!!
Sadly, I won’t be here for it, but what matters is she’s making her first covenant with God! I’m so excited for her. The Lord works in mysterious ways!
I’m not gonna get all sappy — 'cause I think I might write one more — but know this:
My mission has forever changed me.
It was the best thing of my life and also the best thing for my life.
I love y’all. Just know — Jesus Christ has got you!!
I wanted to share this verse from Alma 26, after Ammon completed his mission:
“Therefore, let us glory, yea, we will glory in the Lord; yea, we will rejoice, for our joy is full; yea, we will praise our God forever. Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? Yea, who can say too much of his great power, and of his mercy, and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.”
I agree with Ammon — I cannot say the smallest part of what I feel.
I know my Savior lives, and I know that God loves and cares for each and every one of us!
