Hey y’all so I’m finally a missionary and I finally made it to my first P-day (preparation day). Well technically second since my first one was on Tuesday last week and I only had one day as a missionary, so I decided to spare y’all from one days adventure.

I started home MTC on Monday, February 5 and let me just tell you I’m not a fan of home MTC.  Six hours of zoom was hard, but I did in fact learn a lot from the few times that I was listening. JK

The Lord does know exactly what I needed because I was terrified to meet my district and just feeling alone at this, but the Lord knew and thankfully I have Sister Pickard in my district for the MTC which is crazy. We went to BYU together and now we are at the MTC together which is going to be so much fun!! We got to do workshops on zoom with a lot of different people that are all going to different MTC’s (Missionary Training Centers all just the world). That was very interesting because it really opened my eyes that about 400 people were on the zoom with the same purpose to serve the Lord which is such an amazing thing to see.

I got to show my district my good rapping skills about spiritual experiences, and let’s just say I left them speechless. My district is super chill so far. We were supposed to have a meeting with our branch president on zoom and we all showed up. There was an older couple and they asked what district we were, and it turns out that we were the wrong district for them, so they just left with no directions for us. 😂 So I mentioned the idea that when a teacher doesn’t show up after 10 minutes that means we can hop off, and it really showed how we worked together as a team to agree on that idea.  Needless to say,  I haven’t  met my branch president yet but I’m really excited to meet them in the real MTC.

My companions are super great. I’m in a trio, so that means I have two companions. Sister Allen is from Arizona and going to Kentucky and Sister Wariner from Utah is going to Reno Nevada. They are super sweet and kinda shy but I have made them open up. I truly have seen their love for the gospel and their great testimonies. They really have taught me a lot so far.

After MTC everyday, my family started to watch the Chosen and the goal was to get through all three seasons by the end of the week, which we did!  Let me just tell y’all that the Chosen is awesome. (I know it took me becoming a missionary to actually sit down and watch it) but I HIGHLY recommend watching it. It really makes you feel the spirit so much.  Watching all the stories of Jesus Christ come to life helped me truly understand how much love He has for us.

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to the fam which was super hard for me, especially saying good bye to my twin (Leah) who’s heading to the Mexico MTC today, and then to Missouri in 6 weeks. I didn’t realize how much I could miss someone after saying goodbye to my best friend. Leah is my greatest example and I’m very excited to see her thrive on her mission.

I wanted to end with my mission plaque as well, just like Leah’s email lol, because I truly believe in the power of prayer.  If you have trouble or questions turn to Him because He is here for us!
James 1:5-6
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

This verse reminds me of that part in the Chosen when Jesus walked on water and told His disciples not to be afraid.  This story reminds me that when we are afraid or confused we can go to the Lord and ask of Him, and He will give us peace and clarity.

Love you all,

Sister Kimball
