Hey y’all!!

I feel like I always start with "hey y’all," but I honestly have no idea how else to start, lol!!

On P-day, we went to Glow Golf, which is a place to golf, but in the dark—everything is glow-in-the-dark. It was pretty cool! The Elders wore white shirts (well, duh, haha), but they glowed so much because of the white—it was pretty funny.

But this week has been freezing! The lows are in the 10s, and the highs are in the 30s. But I’m not complaining, because I just read my friend Kalli’s letter, and she said it was -4 in Norway, so I’m feeling blessed! Sorry, Kalli!!

Well, with the weather, we had a snowstorm come in on Tuesday, so we missed P-day—thank goodness, lol!! But we were parked, which means we can’t drive, so we had to stay inside or walk!! We decided to walk to a member’s house nearby—the one with 7 kids under 8. Right when we got there, they threw birds on our shoulders. So now, they have 8 kids: Enoch, Jaron, Norah, Ezra, Thea, Benny, Hyrum, and 1 dog, 1 lizard, a fish tank full of fish, and 2 parakeets! They threw the birds on us because they have to socialize the birds so they don’t get angry and bite people. So, that was concerning! We helped out by organizing a few things, but Benny, the 1-year-old, wanted me to read to him, so I did. Then I gained 5 more children around me listening to me read. Not gonna lie, when we got to Dr. Seuss, man, I was stumbling just because of all the rhyming and my mouth was dry, so I had Enoch, the 8-year-old, switch reading with me every other page so I could take a break, haha!! Instead of walking, Sister Lee offered to take us home—bless her soul, because I could not walk in that blizzard again!!

The sign ain't wrong!! #torchys

We went to Torchy’s with some members in another ward, and man, it brought me back to always going there in Texas. One time, we realized that we went 3 weeks in a row, so we needed a break (shoutout to Braden, Britt, and Brinley). Don’t worry, I made these members get their queso, but it was honestly amazing—it tasted like heaven.

We got parked again on Thursday, but I wasn’t feeling good, so I took a little nap. Don’t worry, I know in the Kimball family you're not actually sick unless you throw up, and my comp can confirm that I did throw up. And no worries, Leah, I didn’t make her clean it up like I used to make you—I actually designated a bowl in our apartment as the throw-up bowl. You know, the bowl you still use for popcorn. I think the coldness got to me because I was literally out cold, but still thankful for that heating mattress pad I took from my first area, because that thing is golden. I feel like it’s a warm hot tub, but I’m not wet or in my bathing suit.

Update on Diane’s cat: I still have never seen the thing, but Diane is getting older, so her memory is fading. Me and her ministering sister from the ward think this cat is a hallucination, which is so sad. So please pray for Diane. I love her so much. Me and her laugh and cry about the old times—I mean, it’s mostly her telling us stories from the 60s and her time as a nurse, but I pretend I was there. Her "cat’s" name is Kiki, and she crawls through the walls to sleep with her at night. Even if that isn’t real, I would be frightened if something furry crawled into bed with me and I didn’t know what it was.

Bout to shred the powder 🏂❄️

So, the Elder Quorum texted us and was like, “Hey, we need help moving someone on Thursday,” and we were like, “Of course we can help.” Well, Thursday comes along with a snowstorm and 28mph winds—it was windy. So I texted and was like, “Are we still moving?” and they said nothing had changed, so me and Sister Ducker geared up—layers on layers. We drove to her house, saw the moving truck, and saw no one there. We knocked on the door, and she said that she didn’t know when the Elder Quorum was supposed to come. So it was just me and Sister Ducker looking like Ralphie’s little brother from A Christmas Story: “I can’t put my arms down,” helping this single lady move. We started moving all the heavy stuff for her because we felt so bad that no one was there. Well, we got a text saying we were parked, so we had to go home. Then, her friend’s son showed up, so we didn’t feel so bad. But when I say sister strength, it’s real. Turns out there was a miscommunication about when the truck was going to be there, but you know, the sisters got you.

 Literally was miserable!!

“The morning I wake up before I put on my makeup, I say a little prayer for you!!” Even if this is just a song, it’s true—we should be praying all the time. I heard a quote one time from one of my bffs in the ward cough cough, Sister Luce—“If you were in theory Heavenly Father, would you only want to listen to your children on Sundays?” We have been knocking on a bunch of people’s doors, and a lot of people say, “I don’t need a scripture, I got my scripture on Sunday.” I’m sorry, y’all, but Jesus isn’t just a Sunday thing. He is an EVERYDAY thing. President Brigham Young said, “The men and women who desire to obtain seats in the celestial kingdom will find that they must battle every day.” Therefore, true Christian soldiers are more than weekend warriors. The gospel isn’t a 10 percent thing or a 50 percent thing, but 100 percent. On my mission, I’ve realized that every day should be a day of remembering Jesus Christ. So pray, because He is there, and speak, because He is listening.

Love y’all!!
XOXO,
Sister Kimball
