Welcome to... will they or won't they!! Jason's baptism edition!

First off Sister Simmons and I have been trying to save miles so we have been walking everywhere, and so we did picnic at a park. This park is niceeeee, like it's gotta be brand new. It has all these weird slides and swings and anything you can think of. Also a skate park so that's lit. But it had this playground gym, and after dinner we decided to get our reps in while in dresses. We know we gotta bulk up for spreading the gospel!! 💪

It's been a rough week. We found out the ward doesn't like us, well jk but our ward mission leader let us know that in ward council they decided they needed to "reign in the sisters 🐎". So I guess they don't want us to bring people to the gospel.🤦‍♀️ I dare them to try, we are unstoppable!  J/K

It's been a crazy week, but Jason hit the water⛲️🏊‍♂️!!! So he's an official member in the cool kids club!!! Jk he made an amazing decision to be baptized last Saturday!! This took a lot of effort cause we were suppose to do our baptism interview with an Elder in our district earlier in the week, but Jason sent us the most concerning text saying "Sorry not making it today. I have to talk to my wife more. She won't approve since she wants me to go to her church and she doesn't believe the way mormons believe." This man decides to drop that bomb and ditch his phone!!

Here's a little back story: this whole time we have been meeting with Jason we have been telling him how we have to meet his wife and he's been like, "We go our separate ways when it comes to religion." According to the text above its doesn't seem like that, lol. We finally got in touch with Jason on Friday saying we are coming over to meet his wife and then he's gonna meet us at the church to be interviewed by the Elder! He said sure. We show up met her and did some small talk, then brought up the elephant in the room.🐘😬 

So Jason's wife is a Jehovah Witness and she doesn't like how he is going to be a "mormon" with out even trying her religion out first. Jason is a very quiet man so he was just standing there and btw Jason has this bird named Nico and Jason wife swears that he doesn't bite but according to Sister Simmons finger we say other wise! Well, while talking about what temples are to Jason's wife, Jason pulls up a pic of the Denver temple and tries to show her and she didn't even look, so Jason showed his bird Nico! It had me dead haha💀! Jason's wife finally said he could get baptized only to see him happy. So we took what we could get lol!

The next day was the baptism!! We invited all of our friends and ward members and everything was going great but our pianist fell through! So we started texting people and no one could do it.  At one point we had a sister missionary who said she could but canceled last min. So we heard a rumor that another missionary from another ward (Elder Clarke) can hit the keys!!🎹🔥 So we begged him to play and he said sure, and we gave him the songs.  Turns out he has never played those songs ever so they had to spend their lunch time and dinner time practicing for the baptism. Thank goodness for Elder Clarke🙌 At this moment Sister Simmons and I said how we both wish we actually took those piano lessons our parents made us take seriously!!!!🤦‍♀️

After we took a pic with Jason an Elder we know who I actually came out to the mission with (his name is Elder Watson) he literally pulls Jason to the side. Sister Simmons and I start walking away and he says this to Jason "ok imma walk you through how you're going to get dunked" It literally had Sister Simmons and I dying💀 and it's the fact Elder Watson was so serious when he said it hahah poor Jason!! Fun fact I actually met Elder Watson once before the mission in Reno lol😱!

The baptism went great!! Sixty-one people showed up (I counted) no one from Jason's fam supported him so it was so great to see the ward support him!! We had a friend, his name is James and he brought his small dog! He came right in and sat down next to us and literally just handed the dog to Sister Simmons like no words were said. This dog starts just biting her fingers and he's going ham. I whispered to Sister Simmons and asked if it hurt and she said yes! Every time she would stop the dog, it would bark and we were trying make the baptism very reverent. So she had to put up with it. Even when she would hand the dog back to the owner, he handed it right back to her. It was so crazy!

Thomas is on date for May 11th 💍🫡 so that's cool!! He's a very cool guy and loves the Book of Mormon! He eats it up like it's candy and he asks us some good questions!! 

We also played pickle ball with the district and of course Sister Simmons and I beat them to the ground!! World Champs 🙌👑 Also showed the district my lack of soccer skills ⚽️🔥 but I convinced them I was Varsity all 4 years, then we started playing and they got to witness for them selves how great I am💁‍♀️

Sister Simmons and I are convinced that we would make the best Hermanas!! (Spanish sisters) We got Doulingo on everyday and we have been practicing with the Spanish Elders when we see them! There's no Spanish Sisters here in Colorado yet but soon just wait and see. Hermana Kimball and Hermana Simmons coming soon just gotta convince presidente!!🙌

Funniest thing happened on Sunday we were doing some less active stop bys cause we gotta feed some lost sheep too🐑!! We knocked on this one door and this man who is about 70 years-old 👴 comes out and first of all gets wayyyyy to close to Sister Simmons!! 😳 We were just talking and chillin and then his wife shuts the door behind him, sooo weird. We asked if there was a day we could come back and share a message. He said he would text us and we were about to leave and we say have a nice day, and he says you too then grabs Sister Simmons hair and says "You're kinda cute" 😲 and turns around and heads inside! We couldn't believe what just happened.  We headed to the car and start dying laughing hahah! Definitely sending the elders to that one!! 

I just wanted to end with one of my favorite missionary scriptures since most of my friends are on missions or are about to leave on one, or just got their call so this is for y'all!! So y'all are welcome!

11 And the Lord said unto them also: Go forth among the Lamanites, thy brethren, and establish my word; yet ye shall be patient in long-suffering and afflictions, that ye may show forth good examples unto them in me, and I will make an instrument of thee in my hands unto the salvation of many souls. (Alma 17:11)

The mission is hard, not gonna lie. But I know that if we give the Lord our all and give our will,  we will be a tool in his hands and we can see the joy we bring people. The best part of missionary work is seeing the lives you affect. I am so happy for all of those who are serving the Lord right now, or about too! Remember the Lord is on our side!!
