When they say serve they really mean serve! Elders in our district hitted up the district chat and asked all of us to come out to their friends house to do service. We said we better say yes as any good sister missionaries would.πŸ’β€β™€οΈ We started driving realizing we are now in some farm town part of Colorado.πŸ„  I was first like yay service, but no this was manual labor .I guess there was a forest fire 10 years ago and all this guy's trees burnt down so he put us to work! πŸ’ͺ We spent about two hours moving huge logs to different parts of this man's ranch! We had to start separating the rotten wood and normal and if you need to know anything about wood I'm now an expert on logology.πŸ€“ We were trying to break this huge rotten log and so we made a seesaw and it finally broke, it was pretty fun. Then some missionaries in my district starts swinging the ax and ofc I offered to try idk but all of them had no faith in me. They all stepped back 20 feet. They think I might let go of the ax and it will go swinin'!πŸͺ“ Where's the trust?πŸ€”πŸ§ I proved them wrong and cut that log with one swing! After two hours of hard manual labor, we changed in the car all scratched up by the wood, and went to share the gospel. However, three hours later it hit us so hard and we were out during dinner😴

πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨ I met an Olympic athlete who ran for the USA but he's from Kenya Africa and he and his wife names are Shadrack and Elvin. They both grew up in Kenya in families of 10, and I told them I had 8 siblings, and they were shocked.🀯 They said "but you are American you don't have to have 9 kids!" They told me that's not normal for the USA! But hands down best people everπŸ™Œ They told me their whole life story, and how they miss Africa sooo much, but it's better to Iive here.  They said it's so different than Kenya cause everyone there talks and loves eachother and their all aunties, but here they said they barely know their neighbors.πŸ˜₯ It was crazy cause Shadrock and Elvin are runners they run for fun, which is crazy to me to begin with, but they both run 16 miles give or take a day!  Then Shaddrock heads to the gym from 6-9 and never miss a day, but that day he decided to not go and just stay home and then BAM WE KNOCK ON THE DOOR!🀜πŸšͺ What a miracle!

We shared an amazing message about how God loves all his children and they loved that.  Then he told me how he has this friend from the USA Olympic running team and in his bio on Insta its says he served in whatever African country it was lol I can't remember, but he told us how he asked him what that means, and his friend explained how he served a mission.  So I told him I have tons of friends who are serving all over the world and some are in Africa and he was shocked! 😱 He had no idea they had missionaries everywhere!! Moral of the story is that it went great, and we are seeing them again soon and btw he has met Simone Biles!!🀯

We had a great lesson with one of our friends but it was a struggle! Her two kids were in the room and they had the movie Cars on, and I was so invested in the movie it was so hard to pay attention to the lesson. We even told her that is it ok if we pause the movie for the prayer thinking she will leave it off but then after the prayer she turns it right back on. I can tell you me and my comp were struggling not to watch Lightning McQueen⚑️ It also didn't help that our friend was sitting right in front of it. It was definitely a test of temptation.πŸš—πŸ˜Ž

We were doing stop bys in the pouring rain and we were knocking on this one door and we were about to head back to the car but I had the thought that it doesn't hurt to just knock one more time.  Then like two seconds later a man opens the door and he looks so unsure and confused. I asked "Are you Brother Garland?" and he says yes, and then I asked if his wife was home.  He said yes and then I asked is it ok if we come in for a little bit to share a message about Jesus Christ. He was still looking so unsure and then he said come in. We walked in and let me just paint you a picture! It's completely dark and there are candles everywhere, it was giving the Scooby Doo ride at Six Flags vibe!πŸ•―πŸŒ‘  It was so creepy all of the sudden we see this older lady sitting in a rocking chair just like something straight out of a horror movie where those two sister missionaries disappear. I didn't really think twice about it, and I made my self comfy on the couch and we are just talking to this couple. Then she tells us that she always had the Elders knocking on her door but she didn't let them come in because she didn't like Elders. So when she saw it was sisters at the door, she told her husband to let us in. That's why the husband was so unsure cause she never lets missionaries in. We started talking and she tells us how she has health issues and that's why she doesn't go to church. We then gave the most spiritual lesson ever and it has her in tears, and btw we are doing this all in the dark. It was so hard to keep my eyes open I almost passed out.😴 This lady then says how close she is to the spirit and tells me how I'm going to change lives which was pretty cool hahaπŸ’β€β™€οΈ

We were calling this brother from the ward who is also inactive and he told us his whole life story for about 30 minutes, and we were like we got to wrap this up. He tells us how he wants to start coming to church but he's moving to Idaho and he will go there. Which wasn't adding up for me because I'm like you want to go to church, and we have one here so start coming. I asked him what's the wait, and he then says "Wow I've never had a missionary ask such a bold question," and I was so confused cause I'm like, it's a valid question. He then tells us how he isn't ready yet, so we then start preachin' and he was sooo amazed at how we brought the spirit. It was such a cool experience. He said he isn't ready for church yet, but I'm thinking he wil soon be. πŸ”œ

I got a new district which is pretty cool ig.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ But I taught them volleyball, and it was fire.  It was sisters against the elders and let's just say the score was so close!! 🀏 We then played like 1000 games. I always keep a card deck in my back pack, so we play BS which was fun. We then played chair soccer which was a pretty interesting game! I begged my last district to play, but my last comp Sister Simmons hates chair soccer, so we never played. She's lowkey right it was mid forsure. πŸ˜”

There's really nothing else to write about, but I just wanted to end with another spiritual thought. This week everyone and their mom asked me to give a spiritual thought. So I will just take something that I shared one of those times. It's from PMG and its about relying on the Spirit when you teach. I know from my very short time as a missionary that real conversion truly is through the Spirit. So I strive to have it at every lesson, but sometimes it's hard because of distractions like for example having the movie Cars play while trying to teach. I know from experience that relying on the Spirit in a lesson truly helps you know what to say. I have seen the power of the Spirit and the best way to invite it is through prayer. Prayer is a very powerful thing and I know starting off every lesson with prayer to just invite the Spirt changes that whole lesson. Even after the mission I will strive to have the Spirit with me at all times cause it's the key for self conversion!!
