The shirt ain't wrong 💗🌸🎀🐷🛍🩰👛 Cottonwood Creek Colorado December 2024 |
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there."
I thought Santa wouldn't know that I was serving a mission, so I made him a sign that says to stop here and that I'm not in Texas this Christmas!!
Christmas on the mish is so different because it doesn’t even feel like Christmas, but it was sooo much fun! Let me give y’all a little rundown! Also, pics for days, y’all!@
For P-day, we all dressed up in PJs and did a little Secret Santa. Don't tell anyone, but I gave my name to Sister Lesuer because she's the only one I trust.

On Christmas Eve, no one really wanted us in their house, which doesn’t make sense to me since we give them the best Christmas message ever. So, we went to a member’s house and did some service for her. We helped her wrap Christmas gifts for the kids, and we were upstairs with the door locked. I swear this was straight out of a movie. The door handle starts jiggling, and it turns out the kids—who are all under 8—let the 3-year-old take a butter knife to the door and unlocked it. So, I jumped up, holding the door back, but let me tell you how strong these kids are because it felt like I was holding the door shut against a bull. It literally was a scene from a movie! Finally, the mom got up and had all the kids go downstairs. It was insane! We finished wrapping her kids' gifts, which was pretty fun, then played some games with them. And I totally beat each and every one of those kids at Tic-Tac-Toe!
For Christmas Eve dinner, we spent it with the Muirheads, a family in our ward. We walked in, and it was their whole extended family there—super fun! We went caroling, but it wasn’t the kind where no one’s good, so everyone just tries their best. It was the kind where people harmonize, so it sounded like a choir of angels. But don’t worry, I didn’t want it to sound too angelic, so I didn’t give them my rendition of "Silent Night" (missing my duet partner! Bean, where you at?). We had so much fun, and we even sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and Santa. But this Santa looked a lot like Brother Muirhead. Me and Grandma though? We hung out, lol. She didn’t know how to figure out her phone, so anytime she wanted to take a picture, she threw her phone to me to record the whole live nativity. So, me and Grandma are besties now. I even fixed her ringtone.

On Christmas, you can catch me singing to some old peeps. Like, I kid you not, we sang for about an hour straight. We also begged members to feed us pancakes on Christmas because, like, eating cereal on Christmas is super sad, lol. We then went to a nursing home from 10 to 3!! We got to sing and play a bunch of games, so that was lit!!
We had Christmas dinner with some friends we’re teaching—Apryl and Brett—and they’re literally awesome. She made some mac and cheese, and it was so good. Then we went to the Luce's to play some games, and I taught them BS, and I still lost. I don’t know how. It was a blast, though. Best first and last Christmas on the mission. It was literally awesome to serve the way He would on Christmas.
We did some other service, and I got to burn some sticks, so I call that some fire service right there!!
Keegan, this elect kid from another ward, got baptized on the 28th. He’d been meeting with missionaries for a year and wanted to get baptized forever ago, but his stepmom said, "No way." So, he had to wait until his 18th birthday, which was December 28th. And that’s when he got baptized! He invited me to come, and it was sooo tender. Like, 10 elders showed up since so many missionaries taught him. Even though his life wasn’t perfect and not everything worked out, he still chose to be a member because he has felt the joy of the gospel work miracles in his life. Pretty awesome. So proud of Keegan and his decision to be baptized. Now he's counting down the days until he can serve a mission. Kind of cool that he got baptized 2 years after a friend of mine did. ;)

Funny story—idk if it’s that funny, but now everything is funny to me because I’m entertained by so little. We were walking up this driveway to teach a lesson, and we were having a deep convo about the temple. I wasn’t paying attention. So, I look up and see a dead man in the truck. I literally screamed and pulled my comp down with me. She then screamed when she saw the pale dead man in the truck. All he said was, “Hi.” I thought me and Sis. Ducker were gonna have to "Goodbye Earl" situation—grab some shovels and start digging. Scariest time of my life.
Me and Sister Ducker have become really good at blow darts. A family for Christmas got these blow darts, and the little kids showed us how to use them. Honestly, it was so fun, I felt like I was in the Hunger Games for a second.

So, me and Sis. Ducker had the worst lesson of all time the other day. We went to a single woman’s house for a lesson, and surprise—her sons were there. Let me tell you, her sons woke up that day and chose contention. They were hatin’ on BYU, and it was literally not fun at all. I almost threw hands, but patience is a virtue, and I’m trying my hardest to be more Christlike, haha. We started the lesson, and Sister Ducker showed me one she wanted to use, which was about being submissive and meek like a child. Honestly, I should have let her do it, but I thought it would feel like we were calling them out. So we talked about faith, but literally, the Spirit was not there. It was rough. The guy literally told us he has an RJF (Resting Jerk Face). And that he's not going to be polite because he’s been polite all Christmas. And then this lady wonders why her son is still single. Well, if you go to BYU with that attitude, I can tell you why he's still single.
Sorry, y’all, I just had to write that out because man, it made me so annoyed.
Well, idk what else happened... Oh, lol, Sister Ducker got assigned to give a talk, and she was kind of nervous all day. So, I hyped her up. But we walked into the chapel, and who do we see standing on the stage? President Kotter. All her nerves came flooding in. I honestly was shocked he was there; he’s never surprised a ward before, except once during my training. So Sister Ducker had to give a talk in front of him, which is the scariest thing ever. Turns out our 2nd counselor in the bishopric called him up to give a talk, which was a bold move. But President did it. He also shouted us out from when he first picked each of us up at the airport until now. He said, “I can still remember the color of Sister Kimball’s suitcase—bright pink.” 🤦♀️

Catch us in nursing homes majority of the time!👵♿️ Cottonwood Creek Colorado December 2024 |
President Nelson once said one of the best quotes of all time:
“The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives. When the focus of our lives is on God’s plan of salvation… and Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening—or not happening—in our lives. Joy comes from and because of Him. He is the source of all joy.”
I love how focused we need to be to feel so much joy. I’ve seen evidence of this. Before my mission, I probably thought about Jesus once per week, like on Sundays. But now, my focus is 100% on Him. And yes, the mission is hecka hard sometimes, but I’ve never been happier focusing on my Lord and Savior!! I encourage y’all to do the same!!
Xoxo,
Sister Kimball!!
